On Wednesday morning we all woke up early for the day trip to Windsor. After a big breakfast of sausage, eggs and beans we piled onto the coach.
Once we arrived in Windsor we walked along the canal and saw geese, ducks and lots of swans. Rinn enjoyed walking across Eton Bridge to Eton College, where we saw the amazing Eton College Chapel. We all sat down whilst Nick told us all about the gothic architecture. After that, some of us managed to catch the changing of the guards at Windsor Castle – we all thought the soldiers must be very hot in their uniform! We then went to Peascod Street, and were allowed to go shopping in small groups. Rinn discovered a huge sale in Ryman’s stationery shop and tipped off the rest of the group, whilst Madeline and Marilyn loved Paperchase. Lola and Martina bought a present for their little brother, Joshua bought a huge light-up model of the Big Ben, and Teejay bought some Union Flag flip-flops! Some of us got Oreo milkshakes and Krispy Kreme doughnuts before heading to a park to relax and have lunch.
We then went into the Windsor Castle grounds, Rinn said ‘the castle was colossal, and it had a very big church next to it where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got married.’ After looking round St. George’s Chapel and the castle grounds, we all thought it was time for an ice cream! At the end of the fun but tiring day we walked back to the coach. When we arrived back home we had an early supper of pizza and chips before cooling off in the swimming pool. Some of us played tennis with Maggie afterwards whilst others enjoyed a football tournament with Nick. After what Rinn called ‘the best day ever in Windsor’ we were all very tired so went straight to sleep!
On Thursday morning we enjoyed pain au chocolat for breakfast before going to our morning lessons. Some of us were writing stories; Josh wrote about some bullies that got arrested whilst Rinn wrote about Mary Poppins and Lord Voldemort! Some of us watched the film ‘Lion’, which was about a five year old boy who gets lost on a train in India. He has to survive on his own in a new place before getting adopted. When he grows up he tries to find his long-lost family and return home. We then had lunch before the afternoon activities. Half of us played indoor dodgeball with Charlie which Joshua enjoyed, and the other half went to the art room with Nick where we drew family crests like the ones we saw in Windsor. William really liked studying the different colours. By this point Madeline was very hot, which is no surprise because Thursday was the hottest July day on record in the UK! We all headed to the dining room for a drink and then went swimming. After swimming some of us played indoor cricket with Nick and Noah, which Lase and Jaden thought was really fun.
After a delicious supper we all watched the film ‘The Life of Pi’, which was really good, and then went off to bed.
