It was a weekend of change at The Summer Academy as we sadly said goodbye to most of our contingent. Thankfully we were able to welcome a new batch of kids into the programme who I’m sure will have the same great experience as the prior group. Over the weekend the weather took its first turn for the worse but not even that could dampen anyone’s spirits as we had some great activities lined up after a hectic week of work. Firstly, a trip to the bowling lanes led to some healthy competition as we split the group into teams with one just trumping the other in the final frame! After that there was a visit to the cinema where the kids saw ‘Mamma Mia’ before heading back to the academy for some sport. Finally, we got to introduce the new kids to those staying with us for a third week and it was lovely to see new friendships springing up almost immediately.
“Today I went bowling and played on the arcade machines – bowling was really fun! I also won lots of tickets on the arcade and got to purchase some toys with them.” Ashlin
“I got to see ‘Mamma Mia’ and it was really funny. On Saturday I played fives for the first time with V, Rai and their mum and dad. We got to also make our own pizzas for lunch!” Vlad
“I had a lot of fun on my first day as I got to play lots of soccer! I also got to the cinema and my favourite part – a trip to the arcade!” Ryan
“Over the weekend the boys, Sol and I went bowling, my team lost but I had a great time. I also got to watch ‘Mamma Mia’ which was cool. I also got to make a card in the art room.” Julia
“My favourite bit about this weekend was watching ‘Mamma Mia 2’ – I think it’s better than the first one! Bowling was also really fun. Tomorrow I’m looking forward to classes starting again.” Sol
